Hubert LYAUTEY (1854–1934), Marshal. L.A.S., December 25, 1912, to a Director; 3 pages, in-8 format, on his letterhead: “General Lyautey, Resident-General in Morocco.” “I believe we understood each other well yesterday regarding the importance and far-reaching significance of the ‘Ministry of Public Health and Hygiene’ as I would conceive it in Morocco—encompassing all health organizations—military, civilian, indigenous, and scientific.” Wismans strikes him as the right man for the job... Enclosed are three letters, dated 1916–1919, expressing regret over his correspondent’s refusal to travel to Morocco and the difficulty in establishing his Ministry of Health.
