Joachim and Anne. Armenia, probably Vaspurakan school 17th century. Opening page of a manuscript on paper, most probably a Gospel, depicting Mary's parents, Hovagim (Hovakim-Joachim) and Anna (Anne), whose names are written in Bolorgir script below each of the figures. They stand on either side of a cross surmounted by the Dove of the Holy Spirit. The reverse is plain. Former public sale label no. 122. Condition: chipped paint, tear and hole, soiling.
