Simon HANTAÏ (1922-2008). Catamurons, 1963. Oil on canvas, signed with the initials and dated 63 lower right. 95.5 x 71 cm. The Simon Hantaï archive website tells us that the Catamurons series comes from "the name of a holiday house in Normandy". Simon Hantaï gives this description: "the folding occupies only the central part of the canvas; the rest is left blank. The central rectangle, often folded several times, receives numerous superimposed coloured applications". Provenance: - Galerie Jean Fournier, Paris. - Former collection Mademoiselle Calman. (TO mark of the frame on the right side and at the top, some dents)
