François-Séverin MARCEAU (1769–1796), general, killed at the age of 27 at Altenkirchen. P.S. with handwritten note, Bonn, 4 Frimaire III (November 24, 1794); 1 oblong folio page, red wax seal (slightly cracked, repaired).
Permanent military discharge “due to disabilities resulting from the glorious wounds that the undersigned sustained while fighting with intrepidity and all the Republican bravery against the vile satellites of the despots coalition against our Liberty at the Battle of Botté near Namur ” for the volunteer Jean Bardoux, a native of Chamery (Marne). The document is signed by the Administrative Council of the 26th Infantry Half-Brigade of the Year of Sambre and Meuse, which included the future generals BISSON (1767–1811) and HUARD DE SAINT-AUBIN (1770–1812).
