HENRI III. Signed document, certificate issued by Henry, son and brother of the king, Duke of Anjou, to the Lord of Pommelays (?), serving in the royal army, authorizing him “to serve him and be of use to him as and when required, and also to stay and suspend all and any of his legal proceedings,” at the camp before La Rochelle, on June 7, 1573.

Henry III, then Duke of Anjou, led the Catholic and royal army that besieged La Rochelle from February 11 to June 26, 1753, when it was in Protestant hands. Henry was elected King of Poland in May 1573 before being crowned King of France in Reims on February 13, 1575.
