Paris, attributed to the Manufacture de Feuillet Large Medici-shaped vase on a porcelain and gilt bronze pedestal with polychrome decoration of a scene probably representing the family of Darius at the feet of Alexander in a rectangular reserve on a green background decorated with trellis foliage and rosettes in gold, the neck, base and base in gilt bronze decorated with acanthus leaves in relief. Restoration period, circa 1830. The square bronze base bears the engraved inscription: BEQUEATHED BY MRS ELIZABETH U. COLES. H. 75 cm Restorations on the sides corresponding to the location of handles now missing (probably two handles missing). Provenance Mrs Elizabeth Underhill Coles (1813-1891, Newport) Exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum Sale New York, Anderson Galleries, March 17, 1917, lot 644 (attributed to Sèvres).
