Round tortoiseshell box (Cheloniidae*) with yellow gold hoop, the lid set with a miniature, probably France, circa 1780, the ivory miniature (Elephantidae spp*) depicting a woman and a winged love, the interior lined with horn (Bovidae), (scratches and chips on the tortoiseshell (Cheloniidae*) and hoop to be reattached).
Diameter: 74 mm.
Gross weight: 52.8 g.
Provenance: ADER sale, Paris, June 30, 1960(?).
*An ivory specimen of Elephantidae spp (I/A) pre-Convention, prior to July 1, 1947 and therefore compliant with EC regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 art.2-W SCE and SPMC, and prior to July 1, 1975 and therefore compliant with the French decrees of May 4, 2017 and January 2022.
To leave the European Union, a CITES re-export permit is required.
