LAGNEAU Nicolas. Active in France in the 17th century. Bust portrait of a bearded man in a fur collar (age 44). Black stone, brown chalk, red chalk and white highlights (some spotting and foxing). Annotated lower left E. 44 / (1) 654. H. 38.5 - L. 28.5 cm. Similar in expression, technique and layout to several portraits of men in the Musée du Louvre and Musée de Chantilly (Cf. Lagneau exhibition catalog, in particular numbers 3, 10 & 13 - Musée de chantilly 2005).
