Chocolatière in silver 950 thousandths, thistle pattern. The fretel, the end of the mousseoir and the handle in partially green-tinted ivory. Goldsmith: CARDEILHAC (1851-1904) designed by Lucien BONVALLET (1861-1919). Monogrammed on the bottom: "S.L.". Height: 21.5 cm. Height with mousseoir: 28 cm. Gross weight: 610 g. (Cracks). Between 1894 and 1899, Lucien Bonvallet collaborated with Ernest Cardeilhac, designing goldsmith's and silversmith's pieces for the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris. These Art Nouveau creations, inspired by flora such as thistles, columbines and clovers, were a resounding success. Similar model in the OSLO Design Museum (N°OK-06413). Model similar in design: "Chardons" covered sugar bowl in silver, with carved ivory cabochons featuring thistles, in the Musée d'Orsay. A similar chocolatière model is reproduced in Henri Bouilhet's 150 ans d'orfèvrerie Christofle (page 200), pami les créations de l'Exposition universelle de 1900.
