Lucien Bertaux was a renowned costume and set designer.
Bertaux worked for music-hall, theater, fashion and advertising. In the music hall, he worked for Joséphine
Baker, for whom he designed numerous costumes. In 1932, he designed the costumes for Rip's revue Le progrès s'amuse, directed by Edmond Roze. In 1934, he designed a poster for Un Bal à la Comédie Française, in 1945 for Le vieux vaut le neuf, Mam'zelle Chiffon, in 1946 for Lenthéric perfumes and in 1955 for Alemagna Panettoni. Also a painter, he exhibited at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français.
