CHINE - Début XXe siècle PAS DE LIVE BIDDING ON THIS LOT - NO LIVE BIDDING ON THIS LOT Square box in green nephrite with carved decoration on the lid of a square formed by four Taotian masks in the corners surrounding a round medallion forming a stylized flower, the border decorated with a frieze of Greek, the chiselled sides of stylized Taotian masks. Inside, an incised and gilded inscription: a farewell gift for Ambassador Krupensky, given by the staff of the Russian Embassy in China in March 1916. Dim. 6 x 16 x 16 cm. Zitan base carved on the top with the same motif as the lid of the box, the sides decorated with stylised Greek friezes. (Restored tray). Vasily Nikolaevich Krupensky (1869-1945), Russian diplomat, ambassador to China between 1912 and 1916. CHINA - Ca. 1900 Square green nephrite box, the cover sculpted with four taotie masks in the corners, surrounding a stylized flower medallion. The outer rim adorned with a scroll of greek, the sides carved with stylized taotie masks. On the inside of the cover, an incised and gilded inscription: Departure gift to the Ambassador Vasily Nikolaevich Krupensky, given by the staff of the russian embassy in China in March 1916.
