NO LIVE BIDDING ON THIS LOT - NO LIVE BIDDING ON THIS LOT A bianhu style porcelain moon flask decorated in blue under a cover of stylized lotus flowers in their foliage. The shoulder is decorated with a frieze of lingzhi topped with banana leaves, the neck decorated with longevity mushrooms and a spearhead frieze. The two stylised chilong-shaped handles. H. 34.5 cm. This lenticular-shaped flask is topped by a cylindrical neck flanked by two small moulded handles of stylised archaic chilong and lingzhi, the base concave and unglazed. Designated in Chinese by "bianhu", "边葫", pilgrim's gourd, or "yueping", "月瓶", a moon-shaped bottle. During the Ming Dynasty, this form was intended for trade with the Near East.
