HANGING in matt burnished gilt bronze, symbolizing the Study - Lot 200
HANGING in matt burnished gilt bronze, symbolizing the Study in the features of a young woman at the ancient table, writing with a quill pen in the light of an oil lamp, near a celestial globe. Enamel dial inscribed in the bollard, decorated with lion mittens and a mask, flanked by a standing oil lamp. Base with science attributes. Movement with wire and bell ringing.
Very early 19th century.
H. 27 cm - W. 25 cm
(Small enamel flakes on the sphere)
Our clock, of an unusual model, is reminiscent of the Study Clock of Jean-André Reiche (1752-1817), cf. Ottomeyer and Pröschel, "Vergoldete Bronzen", Munich, 1986, vol. I, p. 3, drawing no. 5-15-34.
