LANCRET Nicolas (Attribué à) - Paris 1690 - id. ; 1743 1 - Le Jeu des Quatre-coins. Oil on canvas (Re-tooled; some lifting; old varnish soiled). H. 33.6 - L. 42 cm. Analogy: Copenhagen Museum, wood (27 x 32.5 cm). Our painting corresponds to the composition engraved in counterpart by C. - N. Cochin (Cf. Georges Wildenstein, Lancret, fig. 61 - Paris 1924). 2 - Le Jeu de Cache-cache - Mitoulas. Oil on canvas. H. 33.7 - L. 42 cm. Analogy: Château de Doorn (Kasteel Huis Doorn, Netherlands), wood (27 x 32 cm) (Cf. GW. no. 220). An oval version (61 x 53 cm) once appeared at the Vaile sale in London, May 23, 1903, no. 38 (Cf. Georges Wildenstein no. 221; fig. 58 - Paris 1924). Our painting corresponds to the composition engraved in counterpart by N. Larmessin (Cf. Wildenstein, idem, no. 59). Louis XV-style wood and gilded stucco frame with shell, foliate scroll and floret motif (accidents and missing parts).
