ECOLE SUISSE ou FRANCAISE - Seconde Moitié du XVIIe siècle Portrait of Théodore Grenus or Grenut (Geneva 1637-1709), Seigneur Syndic and Conseiller d'Etat of the Republic of Geneva Attorney General (1694). He is shown in bust, slightly three-quarter view, wearing a long wig and magistrate's robes. Oil on canvas (lining; gap towards middle right; some old restorations; old varnish soiled). On the reverse of the lining, an old inscription on the identity and titles of the model: Noble Theodore Grenus ou Grenut, b. 1637, des CC 1660/auditeur 1672 Procr Genral 1694 Cons 1698, Sindic 1706 / died 1709. H. 80.5 - L. 65 cm.
