DROLLING Michel Martin (Attribué à) 1786 - 1851. - Lot 39
DROLLING Michel Martin (Attribué à) 1786 - 1851. Philosopher on his palliasse, near his dog, in a farmyard. Oil on panel. Walnut. On the back an old inscription in Drolling ink. H. 17 - L. 15 cm. The deliberately destitute appearance of the philosopher, reduced to begging, and accompanied by his dog, could indicate a follower of the Cynic school, such as Antistene or Diogenes of Sinope.
